I'm not a big fan of national instances, but @erol has set up an instance for Turkey, and it's really cool!

Seeing as Turkey is moving from a democracy to a dictatorship in high speed, Mastodon can be a powerful tool for preserving freedom of speech for Turkish internet users.

RT @goofy: From June 18th on, Twitter is changing once again its terms and conditions, and it hurts privacy again.

If you still have a Twitter account, take the occasion and invite your followers to join whatever #mastodon instance to give a test run :)

@TesalKoksi Cheers for boosting my post. I hope all is well.

@marcjones I don't think asking is bad or rude in itself. I'm sure most people do it trying to find some common ground with the other person (i.e., “Oh, you're from Italy? I love Italy! I was in Rome last year and...”), but to me (and this is a completely personal opinion nobody needs to share) it feels like creating a barrier between them, as in: “You don't look like you're from here.”

BTW, I like your friend's answer. It's beautiful.

@peaceshanti

@marcjones @peaceshanti Interesting post. In Madrid, where I live and was born, there is this custom (not always observed nowadays, sadly) of not asking anybody where they are from. That's because we just don't care, but also there is this tacit idea that if you are in Madrid, you automatically become a Madridian.

As mostly foreigners ask that, and mostly to us for some reason, we have the running joke of always replying: “I'm from here, from Madrid,” no matter where in the world we are.

Being disabled, I consume a lot of media to pass the time but I find myself constantly wishing I had a better stream of it.

Does anyone know a good way to find recommendations? The medium is irrelevant, it's more about meeting values & taste.

Or if you'd like to recommend anything for an anticapitalist SJW looking for more fun and positivity, please do or boost because I'm not popular. Thank you!

Unsolicited advice of the day: It's okay to get down when you're having a hard time. Feel sorry for yourself! Decide your situation is unfair. It's even okay to roll your eyes a bit at someone for complaining of problems that barely register in your weary eyes.

But don't you dare shit on someone else for getting assistance or having a support network or just plain stumbling into some good luck like they're cheating a system you aren't able to game. What good does that negativity do anyone?
